In Jesus’ last words to his disciples in Matthew 28:18-20, he says “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Also, whenever baptism is referenced in the Bible, they are referencing Baptism by immersion. Though baptism doesn’t bring salvation, we believe Scripture teaches that is a first act of obedience for a believer and our desire is to practice it as it was done in biblical times. “Believers baptism” by immersion is also requisite for membership at One Church (though the baptism could have occurred elsewhere).
